CLARENCE TAYLOR
“At only 18, Clarence Taylor was consumed by a system intent on condemning him
not for his actions, but for his family’s name, the weight of gang affiliation, and the violence that defined an era.”
Falsely accused of murder, he has spent nearly three decades enduring incarceration
in Missouri’s most antiquated and unjust prison system. His case is not only a miscarriage
of justice - it is a reflection of systemic failures that continue to devastate young Black men in America.

The Haven has the honor of advancing his case, giving it the careful and faithful attention it deserves for the first time. In all my years of advocacy, I have rarely encountered a spirit as resilient, compassionate, and courageous as Clarence’s.
His strength of heart, generosity of spirit, and unwavering faith in God stand
as testimony to the power of human dignity in the face of systemic injustice.

Upon his release, Clarence Taylor will not return with bitterness. He will return
in service — to people, to justice, to equality, and to the work of healing. His life
is proof of what redemption looks like when we choose not vengeance, but justice rooted in humanity.
