JARED WILLIAMS

I’ve come to know Jared over the past year and a half. This man is soulful, kind. compassionate, funny, really intelligent, and pretty frickin talented
Music is his blood. He’s a producer, always creating, visioning.
The law is his fight. Jared taught himself how to fight civil suits for those in prison
and has made real change happen. He’s the reason men in segregation have tablets
today in Potosi Correctional. Before him? Nothing. Thank you Jared!

As it does with each of these men, his story runs way deeper. Jared has carried trauma since birth. He watched his brother and father shot and killed in front of him.
He grew up on the streets — a warrior, fighting to survive. The case that put him
inside wasn’t recklessness; it was self-defense. Leaving a club, he tried to stay out of harm’s way. Amongst many men coming at him, three pushed through, provoked,
pulled guns,
and shot at his car. Jared shot back. No one died. Yet he was sentenced to 25 years.
Now,
with legal representation, he’s waiting for a retrial under self-defense.

Though Jared has lost who he is. He’s a creator. A fighter. A beautiful human being-
and a man who loves connection, lights up a room even when that room is a cell.
He needs what we all need: real people, real love, real friends to keep his spirit lifted
while he awaits his freedom.

Here’s the call~ Write to Jared. Send encouragement. Remind him that beyond
these walls, people care, people believe, people stand with him.
He’s still building. Still believing. Still becoming. And needs the right people in his corner!
